Job Summary
Conduct all class sessions according to schedule, providing instruction, activities, and assessments to cover Student Learning Objectives. Use teaching methods emphasizing application and collaboration to engage students as independent learners, while organizing content for diverse abilities and cultural experiences. Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work, monitor student progress, and perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment per college requirements. Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy. This is a pool position with ongoing applications due to increasing demand. Locations may include the main campus, local high schools, or virtual settings, with variable daytime, evening, or weekend hours contingent on enrollments.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or higher degree in English
- Master's or higher degree in a related field
- 18 credit hours of graduate English coursework
- Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times
- Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students
- Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading
- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently
- Ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work with students, staff, and faculty
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs
- Must be able to work evening and weekend hours
- Three (3) professional references with phone numbers and email addresses
- Successful completion of a background check
Desired Qualifications
- Four (4) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level
- Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard
- Experience in learner-centered pedagogy
