Job Summary
Engineering Technologist for Rail Cars and Shops in Streetcar Vehicle Maintenance Engineering: provide technical support for procurement, inspections, diagnoses, repairs, maintenance, overhaul, and system improvements; diagnose and coordinate repairs for complex failures; plan and coordinate preventive maintenance; provide guidance on equipment selection and service needs; develop and deliver training programs and technical documents; prepare reports and SOPs; may rotate into related technologist positions; must have post-secondary engineering technology education, Ontario driver's license, and rail-vehicle maintenance experience; strong technical writing and communication skills required; full-time role with varied shifts at TTC in Toronto.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary college diploma or university degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline, or combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Registration with PEO or OACETT as Engineering Technologist (asset)
- Valid Ontario class G driver's license in good standing
- Experience with rail vehicles maintenance
- Knowledge of engineering design and costing principles, methods and procedures
- Ability to diagnose and correct faults in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on revenue rail vehicles and maintenance equipment
- Experience directing and training staff and union personnel on fault isolation techniques, equipment modifications and procedures
- Experience developing and delivering in-house technical training programs
- Excellent technical writing skills for maintenance, test/failure, exchange and standard operating procedures, and bulletins
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for coordinating with supervisory, technical, trades, and external stakeholders
- Proficiency with computers and applications including MS Office, digital image manipulation, and familiarity with data/methodologies of the Material Management System and rail vehicle work order systems (Streetcar/Subway/SRT Maintenance System)
