Job Summary
Welder/Fabricator-focused Engineering Technician role performing direct factory support. Responsibilities include building new equipment, repairing downed equipment, machining parts for welding, fabrication of sheet metal, welding and brazing, making tooling and fixtures, drilling and tapping various metals, fabricating and modifying one-off parts for internal use, and assisting engineering with equipment modifications for research and development. The position requires hands-on fabrication, welding (Tig/Mig for steel, stainless, and aluminum), soldering, use of shop equipment (mills, lathes, brake, shear), reading engineering drawings and weld symbols, and collaboration with engineering to improve production machines. Candidates should be able to work independently with attention to detail and be safety-conscious in a fabrication environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years general metal fabrication experience
- Able to weld: Tig & Mig steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Sheetmetal fabrication experience including using a brake and shear
- Able to solder (hard and soft) with Oxy-Acetylene torch
- Able to use shop equipment including manual mills and lathes
- Able to assemble intricate machinery from schematics and drawings
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow instructions, and a strong attention to detail
- Assist engineers in identifying and implementing improvements to production machines
- Be computer literate with knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Ability to read engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Experience with CAD software and CNC a plus
- Safety conscious, able to work safely in the shop and on the factory floor with complex machines
- Efficient, clean, and organized worker
- Quality conscious and able to inspect own work
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Able to lift 50 pounds
