Job Summary
Support engineering activities including design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electromechanical and vacuum systems. Perform setup of processing equipment for LEDs, displays, and semiconductors while reading schematics to execute troubleshooting functions. Diagnose and repair system performance issues using high-precision electrical, optical, and mechanical test equipment. Provide technical assistance to process development and engineering personnel for Veeco's etch and deposition equipment located in the Plainview Applications Lab. Maintain daily operations of the lab and assist with development of advanced thin film process technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting complex systems
- A minimum of a completed high school diploma or GED
- Hands-on person, ability to assemble/disassemble complex parts
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Experience with prototyping/testing and test equipment
- Good organizational skills including time management
- Must be familiar with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
- Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Work in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- An associate degree in technical engineering or a related technical field
- Experience in high technology sector
- Familiarity with vacuum equipment and wafer processing equipment
