Engineering Technician

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive site inspections and surveys to collect data for sustainable site development, grading, and construction initiatives. Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to plan, design, and supervise infrastructure improvements while utilizing CAD software to create and review detailed engineering drawings. Assist in preparing permit applications, including NPDES and waterway permits, and conduct construction monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and quality requirements. Prepare technical reports, maps, and visual documentation to communicate project specifications, and provide minimal direction to subcontractors and contractors. Work standard 40-45 hour weeks with flexible core hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, occasionally working weekends, evenings, and out-of-town in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- 1 - 4 years of demonstrated experience in the field of civil or environmental engineering or similar
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Ability to work after hours and weekends at times
- Ability to work extended hours when needed
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborative skills with a strong work ethic
- Be dependable (regular attendance required)
- Must be able to speak & hear detailed information through oral communication
- Must be able to see clearly and recognize small details
- Must be able to adapt to changing project requirements
- A demonstrated ability to follow safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required, occasionally work out-of-town, if necessary, in all seasonal weather conditions
- Must be able to adapt to changing project requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced certifications or licenses (EIT) in relevant fields are preferred
- Familiarity with HydroCAD, Stormflow, GIS, Civil 3D, or other engineering software is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Strong technical writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with water / waste water engineering is a plus
- Strong commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field
