Engineering Technician II - Prototypes

Job Summary

Conduct advanced prototype development for generator and distribution containment systems by reading GD&T, welding designs, and assembling power generation equipment. Evaluate prototypes throughout the development process, operating load banks for testing and troubleshooting complex system-level issues. Perform quality checks on manufactured parts, maintain shop equipment and parts inventory, and communicate project status to internal personnel and engineers. Mentor Engineering Technicians I and support continuous improvements in quality, safety, and productivity while adhering to all Mesa safety requirements. Work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday shifts in a general manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Mesa Engineering Technician or in a related field
  • Demonstrated technical contributions to projects
  • Performed Engineering Technician I job duties with a high level of quality and productivity; to the satisfaction of the Team Lead and Manager
  • Valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
  • Must be able to pass a WorkSTEPS physical
  • Willing to consent to and pass a background check and drug screening
  • Customer focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday 7a.m. - 5p.m. and occasionally Saturday
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of hand tools and measuring equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little to no supervision
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Task and detail orientated
  • Ability to work under stress in high pressure situations
  • Able to handle frequent interruptions and handle conflict in an effective manner

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more then 50lbs
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Reading and understanding GD&T
  • Participating in design reviews
  • Assessing designs for predictability, maintainability, safety and reliability
  • Welding prototype designs for generator and distribution containments
  • Assembling power generation equipment
  • Identifying and resolving issues that arise during prototype and testing phases
  • Operating Load banks for power generation equipment testing
  • Maintaining shop equipment
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and effective working environment
  • Maintaining parts inventory stock levels as well as coordinating delivery and receiving of project components
  • Communicating with internal personnel on project status, recommendations, and completion dates
  • Communicating with engineers on design, assembly or process issues
  • Performing quality checks on manufactured parts
  • Understanding of Mesa internal processes and procedures
  • Acting as liaison between development and other departments during events
  • Troubleshooting complex issues at the systems level
  • Supporting continuing efforts to improve quality, safety and productivity
  • Mentoring Engineering Technicians I technically
  • Aiding in managing project timelines and ensuring efficiency of development
  • Adherence and enforcement of all Mesa safety requirements
  • Performing all duties as assigned
  • Computer Software-CAD & SOLIDWORKS
  • Required Shop Tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates in a related field
  • EGSA certification
  • 2-3 years' experience with mechanical & electrical fabrication and assembly
  • 2-3+ years of Mesa experience
  • Honorably discharged service veterans
