Job Summary
Provide CADD (Computer Aided Design Drafting) and field support services for the design and construction of municipal infrastructure improvement projects. Apply basic civil engineering design principles and construction methods in office and field, typically working within a team to develop project plans. Perform CADD work for graphics/drawings for reports, proposals, and interviews, and may assume the role of resident project representative (RPR) in the field during construction in Minnesota and possibly North Dakota. Responsibilities include preparing detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts using AutoCAD/Civil-3D, following directions from Project Managers/Engineers/Lead Technicians, calculating dimensions and material quantities, learning and utilizing CADD standards, supporting construction observation/inspection, surveying, and materials testing, and communicating progress and issues with stakeholders. Travel/out-of-town stays may be required; overtime during construction season. Ability to work independently and in a team, participate in training, and adhere to safety and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- A 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or a Technical Degree in Drafting is highly desirable (applicable experience may be accepted)
- Working knowledge and willing to become proficient in AutoCAD/Civil-3D design software required
- Experience with other CADD software such as Google-SketchUP Pro or ARCMap GIS considered a plus
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required
- Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one
- Must be willing to travel and spend time out of town while fulfilling RPR duties or other business related responsibilities
