Job Summary
Coordinate daily Engineering department activities by assigning work orders, monitoring preventive maintenance schedules, and leading the team through assigned shifts. Troubleshoot and repair building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration while ensuring all work meets safety standards and company protocols. Provide technical guidance to staff and manage vendor communications to maintain seamless hotel operations across multiple historic properties. Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet the minimum age requirement of the jurisdiction
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as business needs require
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire and life safety standards, environmental compliance, and applicable building codes
- Ability to lead by example, motivate team members, and foster a positive, safety-focused work environment
- Strong organizational, time management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer and administrative skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Desired Qualifications
- Technical, trade school, or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field
- Three (3) to five (5) years of hotel, institutional, commercial building, or HVAC systems experience
- Previous management, supervisory, or lead maintenance experience of two (2) to three (3) years
- Refrigeration, HVAC certification, EPA certification, journeyman-level experience, or other applicable trade certifications
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, emergency, and preventive maintenance systems, as well as all related building disciplines
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building systems and equipment in a hospitality or commercial environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with guests, team members, vendors, and all levels of leadership
