Engineering Student – Oil Sands Plant

Job Summary
Collaborate with Bitumen Production, Upgrading, and Utilities Engineering teams to support operations, maintenance, and construction activities. Review assets and data to improve maintenance frequency and equipment uptime, while assisting engineers in producing work packages and calculating reliability KPIs. Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs and SCADA systems to ensure optimal performance of critical electrical components. Participate in developing cost-effective strategies for problematic field equipment and gather field measurements to drive efficiency. Focus on safety, cost reduction, and reliability across plant infrastructure and capital projects.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program
- Good understanding of rotating equipment components, pumps, pressure vessels, pressure piping and valves
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
- A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
- Safety sensitive position
Desired Qualifications
- Mechanical, Electrical Engineering preferred
- all other engineering disciplines will be considered
- Experience in computer programming or coding such as Python, VBA or SQL is considered an asset
- Good work ethic and positive attitude
