Job Summary
Thea Energy seeks an Engineering Program Manager to lead a large, complex custom hardware development program within the fusion energy industry. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of critical hardware—from design through build and test—ensuring on-time delivery and advancing fusion technology. You will define and drive program planning across hardware design, test, supply chain, and manufacturing, partner with technical leads to finalize product requirements and validation strategies, manage BOM strategy and NPI readiness, provide regular progress updates to leadership, and proactively identify and mitigate technical, schedule, budget, and quality risks. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Engineering, 3+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering programs (hardware-focused, in climate tech/aerospace/nuclear or related fields), strong experience with design-for-manufacture and end-to-end product development, excellent cross-functional and communication skills, and the ability to operate in a fast-moving startup environment. Nice to have: experience developing product and technology roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 3+ years leading complex multidisciplinary engineering programs
- Experience collaborating with physics, mechanical engineering, magnet engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams
- Strong grasp of DFM principles and design-build-test cycles
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across teams and leadership
- Ability to distill complex programs into clear risks, decisions, and priorities
