Job Summary
Engineering Manager for the ZEOS Portal and Portal Application team at Zalando. Lead a cross-functional frontend engineering group (up to 10 engineers) to deliver a modular, high-performance B2B portal experience with robust backend integration. Partner with UX designers, Product Managers, and Principal Engineers to drive a cohesive user experience leveraging Micro Frontends, secure authentication (Okta/OpenID), and scalable design systems. Drive frontend strategy, hire and develop talent, align technical roadmaps with user needs, oversee CI/CD, frontend performance, and security, and guide architectural choices around Micro Frontends, SPA performance, and API consumption. Foster agile delivery, remove blockers, and ensure a zero-downtime, customer-centric product built for an international, multi-market context.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams
- Solid technical background in modern web technologies (React, TypeScript, Node.js)
- Experience with Micro Frontends architectures and state management
- Experience with REST APIs and cloud-native deployments (AWS/Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps mindset
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps
- Ability to coach and develop senior engineers in an international environment
- Strong collaboration with Product and UX Design leads
- Focus on performance, security (Okta/OpenID), and SEO-friendly architectures
