Engineering Manager, Transformer

Job Summary
Lead and mentor a team of transformer engineers while owning execution of design and product development projects from concept through production. Drive engineering decisions on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost, and partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations teams. Establish engineering processes and standards, manage priorities and schedules, and lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions. Support supplier evaluations and technical reviews. Based in San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston with full-time onsite expectations, this role requires 7+ years of transformer design experience and 3+ years in leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years of experience designing and developing distribution transformer products for the North American market
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience
- Strong understanding of transformer electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing fundamentals
- Experience bringing transformer products from design through production
- Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams
- Knowledge of IEEE, UL, ANSI, and NEMA transformer standards
- Willingness to travel as required
- Full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with dry-type transformers
- Experience with power transformers
- Experience in quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, or process engineering
- Grid infrastructure or substation equipment experience
- Experience working with international manufacturing partners
- Foreign language capabilities
- Advanced engineering degree or MBA
