Job Summary
Engineering Manager for Core Services leads a geographically distributed team of 5–9 software engineers supporting backend services, experimentation platforms, and feature delivery across desktop and mobile products. Partners with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Science to drive technical excellence, improve user experiences, and deliver scalable solutions. Responsibilities include defining team goals, managing timelines, communicating risks, improving processes, conducting one-on-ones for technical guidance and career development, supporting hiring, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture. Contract role (9 months) with fully remote work and a strong preference for EST. San Francisco, CA indicated as a location hint, but the role is remote.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience leading engineering teams within software development environments
- Strong communication skills with experience working across distributed teams
- Technical background in software engineering with the ability to guide technical decisions
- Experience with technologies such as JavaScript, Python, and/or Rust; Kotlin and Swift are a plus
- Background in API development and scalable service architecture supporting large user bases
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Experience mentoring, developing, and empowering engineering teams across multiple locations
