Job Summary

Oversee substation engineering programs from concept through completion, managing scope, budget, schedule, and risk while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Lead cross-functional teams to coordinate design, analysis, and execution, including reviewing technical specifications, approving contractor submittals, and directing feasibility studies and load flow modeling. Supervise field assessments and equipment selection for transformers, breakers, and control systems to maintain reliability and safety. Mentor engineering staff and integrate emerging technologies into team practices. This role supports Cordoba's national recognition as a top design and program management firm, with a focus on delivering complex infrastructure projects across California.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 12+ years of experience in Electric Substation engineering
  • Professional Engineer license (PE)
  • Knowledge of power systems, electrical circuits and substation fundamentals
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and IEC related to substation design and operation
  • Relay Engineer, Substation Physicals Engineer, Substation Civil Engineer experience
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, including CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and electrical simulation software (ETAP, PSCAD, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for conducting technical studies and performing accurate calculations
  • Effective communication skills to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information clearly
  • Ability to manage and mentor teams and foster a collaborative, high‐performance work environment while providing clear direction, support, and technical guidance
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
  • Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, English major preferred
