Engineering Manager - Search (Consumer, Global Discovery)

Job Summary
Engineering Manager to lead a squad within the Search Domain, owning the full lifecycle of low-latency search services that power search and discovery across markets. Lead and grow a high-performing team, guide engineers through regular 1:1s, performance management, and structured feedback; hire and onboard backend/search talent; partner with Product and Data Science to translate goals into actionable engineering work. Drive technical delivery for Conversational Search or LLM-powered search interfaces, ensure reliable sprint execution, monitoring, incident response, and blameless post-mortems. Collaborate with Product & Data Science on experiments and measurements (e.g., MR R, NDCG, click-through rates) to improve relevance; align with business objectives and user value. Embrace Agentic Engineering practices to transform the SDLC, maintain service reliability, and foster inclusion and career growth. Required Qualifications
- Experience leading engineering teams
- Strong backend and search infrastructure skills
- Experience with search and LLM-powered search interfaces
- Ability to mentor engineers and drive growth paths
- Experience with Go, Java, or Python; knowledge of search infrastructure (inverted indexes, vector search, relevance scoring)
- Experience delivering low-latency, high-throughput services
- Ability to manage cross-squad dependencies and deliver with measurable impact
