Job Summary
Lead a cross-platform team responsible for image rendering and video playback across Pinterest apps and web. Set technical direction to drive execution on quality, performance, and reliability for media experiences. Partner with Media Transcoding, Performance, Data Science, Product, and Infrastructure teams to reduce media load times, improve playback smoothness, and ensure high visual quality at scale. Guide platform and architectural decisions while building and growing the engineering team through hiring and coaching. Raise operational standards through performance measurement, testing, and release quality. Help adopt new media technologies and formats to improve the user experience for a global audience. Requires 9+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years in engineering management. In-office presence is required two times per month; base salary ranges from $208,592 to $429,454 USD.
Required Qualifications
- 9+ years of software engineering experience
- deep expertise in iOS or Android
- solid familiarity with web technologies
- 5+ years of engineering management experience leading strong client or platform engineering teams
- Deep understanding of client performance, including profiling, instrumentation, and performance optimization
- Strong technical foundation in media rendering, image delivery, video streaming, and client-side performance
- Experience working with media frameworks such as AVFoundation and ExoPlayer
- A track record of delivering meaningful improvements to product experience, system performance, or engineering efficiency
- Ability to lead work across platforms and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
- Clear communication skills

- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 2 times/month
