Job Summary
Chair Independent Engineer Design Reviews for all EP and EPC proposals and ensure periodic reviews align with company policy. Monitor compliance with state engineering laws and develop department objectives while maintaining a qualified engineering organization. Coordinate activities between Project Engineering Managers, Chief Discipline Engineers, and Principal Engineers to assist in developing major design criteria and equipment specifications. Authorize overtime, approve overhead charges, and evaluate the qualifications and performance of engineering personnel. Manage subordinates through job assignments and encourage professional advancement via industry societies and conferences. Establish engineering quality controls and recommend bulletins and standards for the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent
- 15+ years total engineering experience
- at least 5 years of this experience in a supervisory capacity
- Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
- Q Clearance or ability to obtain required
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials and applications of computers 2-D and 3-D computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) to engineering problems
- Proficient knowledge of global business unit activities and operations including business development, legal, procurement, construction, environmental safety and health (ES&H), and quality assurance
- Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, UCOR Standard Application Programs, Engineering Department Procedures, and project controls and design criteria in all engineering disciplines
- Broad knowledge of administrative practices
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in negotiation for dealing with client representatives
