Job Summary
Engineering Manager to lead 2-3 engineering squads within Coles 360, Loyalty and Customer team; responsible for building high-performing teams, fostering an ownership-driven engineering culture, and delivering reliable, scalable and secure solutions. Partners with Product, Architecture and Engineering stakeholders to define roadmaps and delivery outcomes, champions a 'you build it, you own it' mindset, drives engineering excellence and operational discipline, removes impediments, ensures alignment with architecture and security standards, acts as a service custodian for platforms, leads incident management and continuous improvement, and oversees capacity planning, recruitment, and career development while collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years' experience leading software engineering teams in complex technology environments
- 8 years' experience delivering software solutions within agile product development teams
- Experience leading multiple teams or large-scale technology initiatives
- Strong understanding of software engineering practices, system design and cloud-native technologies
- Experience with Java, .NET or similar modern technology stacks
- Experience operating and supporting services in large-scale, customer-facing environments
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and technical leaders
- Strong understanding of agile delivery methodologies and continuous improvement practices
- Experience managing operational support, incident response and service reliability
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline
- Exposure or interests in loyalty, commerce or marketing platforms
