Job Summary
Engineering Manager in Auckland leading hands-on software engineers to design, develop, and deliver high-quality APIs and applications for an agentic AI platform. You will coach and mentor a team, contribute to architecture and coding, drive technical discussions on scalability and quality, and enable reliable, sustainable delivery while partnering with cross-functional teams. Requires a Computer Science degree or equivalent, 5+ years in software engineering, leadership experience or strong coaching/mentoring skills, and hands-on involvement in architecture and implementation across diverse tech stacks (AWS Bedrock, React, Node.js, Java, Python) with cloud-platform experience.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience leading technical direction and delivering production systems
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and performance conversations; previous people management preferred
- Strong technical credibility with ability to contribute code, review designs, and guide implementation details
- Experience balancing people leadership, technical decision-making, and delivery management in a modern software engineering environment
- Experience with cloud platforms; AWS experience preferred
