Job Summary
Engineering Manager with a hands-on mindset leading a cross-functional team of data and software engineers responsible for Statista's Data and Content Delivery domain. You will shape the roadmap, own data integrity and discoverability end-to-end, build a governed, central data distribution layer to replace legacy pipelines, and collaborate with Product, Data Production, and internal customers to align on metadata, taxonomy, and data format standards. You will drive architectural decisions, establish a single source of truth, develop scalable internal interfaces and APIs, and partner with data engineers, architects, and clusters to reduce workarounds. The role requires leading senior engineers, coaching growth, and building strong stakeholder relationships, with hybrid work and flex-time offered; AWS-based infrastructure experience and familiarity with data governance practices are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional, product-oriented engineering teams
- Solid backend development experience with Java or Python
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Data warehouse technologies and ETL pipelines experience
- Distributed systems design and microservice architectures
- Experience with Kafka, Redpanda, Confluent or similar
- Familiarity with Data Governance Tools and data catalogues
- Schema versioning and data contracts
- AWS experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
