Job Summary
Lead a Data and Platform Engineering team (six engineers: three data, three platform) and own the full lifecycle from raw ingestion to governed data assets. Shape the architectural vision for Caribou’s data platform on GCP (GKE, Cloud Storage, CloudSQL, BigQuery, Cloud Composer) and drive multi-region resiliency, IaC coverage, cost efficiency, and self-service data assets across business functions. Manage SDLC delivery, mentor engineers in data modeling and platform engineering, collaborate with Analytics and Product to translate needs into a prioritized roadmap, and contribute to engineering culture. This role offers remote/hybrid options with preferred sites in Denver, CO or Chandler, AZ, and potential remote consideration in additional states; compensation in the range of $175k–$215k plus bonus and equity.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading engineers who build and mature data platforms
- Fluency with dbt, a cloud warehouse (BigQuery or equivalent), orchestration tooling, and sound data modeling patterns
- Cloud infrastructure fluency — IaC tooling (Terraform or equivalent), cost discipline, and regulatory environment experience
- Collaborative leadership with focus on growth of team members
- Curiosity and lifelong learning; ability to discuss data modeling and infrastructure at a high level
