Engineering Manager - Customer

Job Summary
Lead cross-functional product development teams in the Customer domain, building and operating technologies that enable customers to list properties on Rightmove. Partner with Product Managers to align priorities and scope, ensuring teams deliver consistently while maintaining strong delivery focus. Coach engineers through clear development goals and foster a psychologically safe environment where individuals are empowered to challenge and grow. Ensure the long-term health and maintainability of systems by driving improvements in testing, observability, and resilience. Manage hiring, onboarding, and talent development to shape team structure and capabilities, advocating fairly for promotions and calibration. Proactively manage risks, remove blockers, and represent the team in cross-functional planning to support organization-wide outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience managing software engineers in a product development environment
- A strong track record of supporting delivery and improving team ways of working
- Confidence in navigating planning, estimation, scope, and stakeholder alignment
- A collaborative mindset and ability to build trust across a wide range of people and roles
- A calm, thoughtful, and pragmatic approach - especially when the stakes are high or ambiguity is present
- A genuine interest in growing others, including coaching, feedback, and performance development
- Location: London - Soho Office / Hybrid (2 days per week in the office Weds & Thurs)
