Engineering Manager - Crypto Payments

Job Summary
Lead end-to-end engineering delivery for wallet, payments, custody, KYC, and ledger systems while recruiting and onboarding the founding team. Set architecture standards, make build-vs-buy decisions, and define the integration framework for best-in-class infrastructure partners. Establish an AI-native engineering practice with continuous delivery and synthetic users in production. Partner with Product, Design, Compliance, Legal, and existing bank organizations to deliver a regulated proposition across multiple jurisdictions. This hands-on role requires 10+ years of engineering experience with 4+ in leadership at a digital bank or crypto exchange. The candidate must have shipped both regulated and on-chain products, demonstrated multi-vendor orchestration at scale, and led remote/hybrid teams across time zones. Experience operating inside regulated fintechs with comfort working with compliance, risk, and regulators is essential.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 4+ years in a leadership role at a digital bank, modern payments company, crypto exchange, regulated fintech, or embedded finance platform
- Financial services and crypto experience
- Experience shipping regulated products
- Experience shipping on-chain products
- Proven full-stack engineering experience across modern frontend frameworks and backend technologies
- Ability to make and guide architectural decisions across the entire stack
- Ideally Java and/or Python
- Multi-vendor orchestration leadership
- Experience with an API-first setup approach
- Experience running at scale covering roadmaps, SLAs and support in commercial discussions
- Demonstrated experience hiring and building remote and hybrid engineering teams across multiple time zones
- Experience operating inside regulated fintechs across multiple jurisdictions
- Comfort working with compliance, risk, and regulators (e.g. MiCA, CASP, VARA, MAS DPT and equivalents)
