Job Summary
Engineering Manager, Core Platform role overseeing a team of Platform Engineers to improve developer productivity, AI tooling, observability, shared services, and code quality in core systems. Responsibilities include leading sprint ceremonies and roadmapping, owning the team roadmap, hiring and developing high-performing engineers, building shared capabilities (libraries, services, frameworks, tooling), defining platform boundaries to reduce cognitive load, and measuring impact through outcomes like velocity and reliability. The role requires partnering with Product and ML teams, guiding architectural improvements, and owning AI tooling adoption and best practices. Travel to NYC HQ is required quarterly; candidates within ~75-minute commute are expected to work onsite 4 days/week. The position is full-time, exempt, with base salary in the $195k–$265k range and potential bonuses/equity.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years managing Platform Engineers
- 6+ years of engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python (or similar language)
- Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, ML, Analytics
- Strong communication skills with non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive iterative solutions
- Coaching and performance management of engineers
- Willingness to travel to NYC headquarters quarterly; onsite 4 days/week for within-75-minute commute
