Job Summary
Lead and coach a multi-skilled engineering team delivering web-based applications for Collections, Returns, and Parcel Management journeys. Manage initiative-level budgets, define technical vision with Product Managers, and take end-to-end ownership of product deliveries including change and service management. Drive adoption of agile and lean methodologies while mentoring staff, recruiting talent, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards and processes. This role supports a cross-functional team focused on reducing fraud and enhancing customer trust within Sainsbury's Tech.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record running high-performing, fast-paced engineering teams through delivery
- Experience operating as both a people leader and who is technically credible
- Strong background in software development, ideally with Java, Next.js, and AWS
- Comfortable with tech and teams working across our stack: Java, Next.js, Node.js, Kotlin, and some Android(minimal)
- Solid grasp of system design and able to break down complex architectures and guide teams through trade-offs
- Experience working directly with Product Owners, translating business/product needs into engineering plans and vice versa
- Strong communicator, able to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- London or Coventry base location
