Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Implement and maintain the engineering process while supporting the generation of new pricing proposals for existing and new customers. Take an active role in growing new business through continual training, technology evaluation, and estimating process optimization. Identify opportunities to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment. Provide technical expertise to manufacturing and quality teams, incorporating new methods to improve existing operations. Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, procedures, and project status, while consulting with clients to prepare project specifications. Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the Engineering Department, and select correct manufacturing processes and technologies for new products. Supervise Engineering staff, set annual goals, and support budgeting efforts for labor, equipment, and overhead.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Possess well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • PC knowledge/computer literate; including the ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), e-mail and use the Internet
  • Working knowledge of LEAN principles
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Workflow analysis skills
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing
  • Must have strong project planning and management skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
  • Skills in 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 a plus
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering preferred
  • May substitute 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree or equivalent combination
