Job Summary
Engineering Manager, Backend/Data at Agoda leading a high-performing team to design, architect, and scale backend services and data platforms in a fintech-oriented, transaction-heavy environment. Responsibilities include hands-on coding and code reviews, mentoring engineers, driving distributed systems, data pipelines, and secure engineering practices, owning production systems for reliability and security, shaping engineering best practices, hiring and developing talent, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful business, product, and platform outcomes. Required capabilities include strong hands-on coding in Java/Scala/C#, experience with scalable distributed systems, DevOps culture with CI/CD and Agile/Scrum, and a track record of leading teams with 5+ direct reports. Nice-to-have experiences include multi-language proficiency, large-scale distributed systems in high-traffic settings, and exposure to payments/fintech domains.
