Job Summary
Provide technical support to Business Unit Managers and the sales function to win new business and drive company growth. Develop accurate project estimates and lead technical effort for proposal generation. Plan project development, including manpower requirements, development costs, schedule preparation, and special equipment needs. Apply Earned Value Management techniques to maintain schedules, control project costs, and satisfy customer requirements. Provide technical direction to team members to realize robust and efficient designs involving complex electronics and software to DO-254 and DO178B/C standards. Prepare and communicate necessary documentation to certification authorities (FAA, EASA, etc.) to realize product certification. Maintain an organized design approach, providing system level definition as needed to ensure technical requirements, schedule, cost, and manufacturing requirements are met. Stays technically informed and implements industry state-of-the-art technical advancements. Ensures company policies and procedures are implemented and assists in modification and definition of these policies. Provides guidance and mentoring for assigned personnel to continuously improve personal and overall team productivity. Work on the Airborne Electronics team supporting new product development, enhancements to existing designs, and obsolescence/sustainment. Requires on-site work at the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Comp. Science or Mechanical)
- Proven experience in aerospace, with a background in successfully developing R&D electro-mechanical products through the complete product lifecycle
- Minimum of ten years of practical experience in the design of hardware and software
- Minimum of two years of project leadership or direct engineering management
- Requires strong working knowledge of FAA certification principles and AS9100 compliance
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization
- Working on site at the facility is required
Desired Qualifications
- Earned value management skills
- An MBA or a master's degree in a relevant engineering field
- Experience with DO-160 and Mil-STD 810 qualification standards
- Experience with DO-254 hardware development and DO-178 software development standards
