Job Summary
Lead and scale a 40+ engineer organization, partnering with the CTO to define operating structures and SDLC, drive performance and career development, and shape AI tool adoption and integration. Own the Engineering Operating System, align technical milestones with business priorities, build a scalable recruiting engine, participate in architecture decisions, and cultivate a high-agency, inclusive culture in a fast-moving startup. Must demonstrate extensive leadership of large teams, strong foundations in modern tech stacks, distributed systems, and CI/CD, and hands-on experience with AI/LLM tooling to accelerate engineering output. Onsite at headquarters in Los Angeles, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in a dedicated engineering management role
- Proven track record managing or overseeing large engineering organizations (20+ engineers)
- Strong technical foundation in modern tech stacks, distributed systems, and CI/CD
- Hands-on experience implementing AI/LLM developer tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cody)
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred
- Previous experience as a founding or first Engineering Manager hire, or scaling an org to 100+ engineers
- Background in marketplace, e-commerce, gaming, or data-intensive consumer facing tech
