Engineering Manager

Founding Engineering Manager to join Ampersand's AI infrastructure team. You will mentor and grow a high-performing, distributed engineering team across full-stack, customer, and forward-deployed work while staying close to the codebase (approx. 20% IC time). You’ll own onboarding and hiring collaboration with founders, drive project management for multi-engineer customer deliverables, and shaping engineering culture focused on ownership, craft, and accountability. You’ll lead security and compliance efforts (SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR) and manage contract engineers and globally distributed contributors. Strong emphasis on architecture, system design, and asynchronous written communication. Requires significant software engineering experience and 2+ years of leadership in a startup/high-growth environment; familiarity with Go, TypeScript, React, and developer tools or AI-native products is preferred.
