Job Summary
Engineering Manager to lead the App Layer Platform team focused on delivering a reliable, scalable, and secure platform. You will drive Operational Excellence for the GA offering, support external customers by resolving escalated issues, and lead Platform Optimization and Differentiation through innovative features. Responsibilities include strategic planning with product and domain leads, backlog and project oversight, fostering a culture of urgency and ownership, empowering the team as product custodians, setting clear goals, and leading effective team meetings. Required are a hands-on programming background with 5+ years of experience and 2+ years in people leadership, strong leadership and product-thinking capabilities, excellent English communication, agile expertise, and deep technical skills in containerization, CI/CD, reliability engineering, distributed systems, observability, and release management. The role emphasizes collaboration across Europe and American time zones, a cloud-native focus, and commitment to security and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on programming background
- Minimum five years of hands-on experience
- At least two years in a people leadership role
- Proven leadership of diverse engineering teams
- Strong product thinking and ability to design cloud-native products
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Experience with agile software development methodologies
- Extensive experience with containerization and workload orchestration at scale
- Experience with reliability engineering including SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs
- Experience building and operating distributed systems in multi-cloud, multi-region environments
- Strong observability and monitoring capabilities
- Release management and CI/CD best practices
- Problem-solving skills with customer-focused solutions
- Ability to lead strategic planning, roadmaps, and project management
- Ability to balance technical debt, innovation, and stability
- Ability to recruit and retain high-performing teams
- Experience collaborating with product managers and stakeholders across time zones
- Comfort with fast-growing tech environments
