Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Conduct daily walk-throughs to visually assess the safe and efficient operation of the hotel's physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. Verify completion of routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations across public spaces, grounds, and commercial areas. Supervise staff hiring, training, and discipline while managing departmental payrolls and manpower schedules. Maintain energy management and preventive maintenance programs, generating reports and cost-effective proposals for system upkeep. Review contractor bids, adhere to purchasing policies, and ensure accurate HOA/CDD billing for non-resort assets. Actively train on fire prevention, environmental health, and safety systems while representing the hotel in community organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Bachelor's Degree or related technical school degree preferred
  • Five to seven years in a major hotel hospital or building including four years in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses certificates or permits
  • Must possess or have the ability and experience to acquire a first class operating engineer's license in boilers and air conditioning
  • Ability to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Ability to read and write to facilitate the communication process
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Basic computational ability
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Outlook programs
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate HotSOS maintenance program
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs
  • Math skills
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities
  • Knowledge of AAA and Forbes service standards
  • Ability to coach train and develop service professionals to perform to AAA Four-Diamond and Forbes Four Star standards of personalized service and physical quality
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such as chillers boilers water softeners and refrigeration equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems maintenance
  • Records of power water and fuel consumption
  • Experience in office procedures ordering materials securing bids and of city codes and other applicable building laws building construction blueprint reading
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Basic knowledge of building codes
