Job Summary
Engineering Manager role overseeing maintenance across guest rooms and public spaces at The Plaza, coordinating preventive maintenance, budgeting and capital expenditures, energy management, and safety/compliance programs. Responsibilities include supervising Engineering staff, coordinating with departments, managing emergency response, recruiting and training, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing contractors and renovations, and ensuring timely maintenance to meet hotel standards. Requires engineering degree/diploma or trade qualification, strong communication, blueprint-reading ability, computer literacy with building automation software, and experience in a large unionized heritage hotel environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years experience as an Engineering Manager in a similar sized hotel or a similar position in a large unionized heritage building
- Engineering degree/diploma and or valid trade qualification required
- Knowledgeable in Building Codes, Fire & Health Dept regulations
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Must be highly skilled in reading and working with blueprints
- Must be computer literate and familiar with Computerized Building Automation Programs, Maintenance Software, Auto CAD, and the Office Workplace package
