Job Summary

Engineering Laboratory Technician responsibilities include supporting day-to-day Ottawa lab operations, inventory management, procurement, shipping/receiving, instrument calibration, and setup/configuration of engineering test benches. You will perform electrical measurements to support validation activities, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, maintain and repair lab equipment, manage inventory, and address facility-related needs. The role involves running/modifying Python scripts to validate device functionality and data collection, setting up lab benches, and designing/testing simple fixtures or jigs. Required skills include hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators; proficiency in Python and C; version control (Git); CAD/3D printing; strong documentation, safety adherence, and teamwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience working in a laboratory with instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)
  • Experience supporting laboratory operations (purchasing, inventory tracking, shipping/receiving)
  • Experience with Python, C, and version control tools (e.g. Git)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and safety protocols
  • Experience with CAD and 3D printing an asset
