Job Summary
Transportation Intern position within DOWL’s Civil/Transportation/Water/Geo-Construction/Environmental & Land Development Practice Areas. Responsibilities include establishing and documenting existing conditions through site visits, performing engineering calculations for civil engineering design projects, drafting with AutoCAD, coordinating with government agencies and client staff for design information and approvals, preparing and routing project-related correspondence, conducting periodic site visits to monitor progress, assisting with writing and editing construction specifications, tabulating bid items and estimating construction costs, assisting survey crews, performing construction inspection of roadway and aviation projects, and performing materials testing in support of lab technicians. Requires a commitment to learning and applying civil engineering principles in aviation infrastructure projects; strong communication, analytical, and technical skills; and ability to manage multiple duties effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering related fields is desirable
- AutoCAD knowledge and experience is highly desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project
