Job Summary
Engineering Intern at Lehigh Valley Public Media focusing on hands-on experience in running the technical infrastructure of a television station. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting broadcast and non-broadcast equipment; supporting daily television operations, news productions, podcasts, and digital distribution platforms. Learn to master broadcast systems (studio, newsgathering, production, master control, automation, transmission), troubleshoot equipment issues, build TCP/IP networking skills in a live broadcast environment, manage automation tools, read and interpret interconnect diagrams, perform cable terminations, and operate in compliance with FCC regulations. Mentored by engineering staff and aimed at students pursuing an engineering or technical degree; seniors/juniors preferred with emphasis on a passion for television production and strong organizational and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Current college or university student; juniors and seniors preferred; sophomores and freshmen may apply
- Must be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States
- Must be majoring in an engineering or technical field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
- Self-motivation and a passion for television production
