Job Summary

Develop secure firmware for industrial heating control and leak detection products using Rust or C/C++ at Chemelex's Edmonton R&D center. Demonstrate proficiency in testing, implementing, and deploying embedded solutions with Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare metal environments. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to apply agile practices and gain exposure to Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) technologies. This 8-month internship, starting September 2026, offers a flexible hybrid schedule for students in Electrical or Computer Engineering programs seeking practical experience in modern embedded development.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics or a related post-secondary program with a co-op or internship component
  • Firmware or software design and implementation skills
  • Ideally with Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare metal
  • Ability to code in Rust, C, C++, Python, or similar

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded interfaces and communication protocols
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts with peers and team members
  • The ability to rapidly learn and apply complex technologies
