Engineering Geologist

Job Summary
Lead site investigations including drilling, CPTs, geophysics, test pits and mapping; interpret ground conditions and develop engineering geological models; coordinate field activities and data collection; prepare technical reports and contribute to geotechnical assessments; support construction monitoring and design activities; collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to manage ground risk and deliver actionable geotechnical recommendations. Role requires hands-on fieldwork across varied Auckland ground environments, with opportunities to contribute to client-facing conversations and technical ownership, supported by senior geologists and engineers. Requires a degree in Geology or Engineering Geology, 4–7 years in consulting, strong GIS/geotechnical software experience, and a proactive, collaborative approach to project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology
- Approximately 4–7 years of experience in engineering geology consulting with at least 3 years in Auckland
- Strong geomorphic mapping and geological logging capability
- Experience with GIS, LeapFrog, Rocscience, gINT/OpenGround or similar tools
- Engineering geological interpretation and reporting skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Full NZ driver’s licence and strong HSE mindset
- Chartered status or working toward chartership (viewed favourably)
