Engineering Field Technician - Drilling Assistant

Job Summary

Conduct drilling and sampling operations using hand-operated equipment while assisting in all phases of drilling activities. Open and reassemble sampling devices and perform routine equipment maintenance and repair. Assist with field surveying or other engineering activities and adhere to written corporate safety policies. Obtain and maintain required certifications including OSHA 10 Hour, CPR/First Aid, and defensive driving. Work in variable conditions with potential travel up to 75% of the time, including weekends and overtime, as a contracted employee of JARBO Employment Group.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Active DOT Medical certification or the ability to obtain this certification
  • Safety training and certifications which may include, but are not limited to: OSHA 10 Hour, confined space, CPR/First Aid, defensive driving, and spotter's training; or the ability to obtain these certifications
  • Ability to meet the assigned company's regulatory insurance requirements for owned autos determined through Motor Vehicle Record Check (MVR)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate simple computer software programs
  • Ability to utilize a tablet for purposes of documenting field inspections
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit number and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using unity of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Frequent moderate physical effort
  • Ability to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Science, Geology, Geography or a related field
  • Preferred experience in engineering field inspections
