Job Summary
Engineering Automation Lead role focused on defining and delivering Bechtel's project Automation/BIM plans, leading data-centric engineering delivery across disciplines (3D modeling, P&ID, Electrical and Instrumentation, BIM interoperability), and driving cross-functional implementation of data environments (e.g., BIM360, Inspec) with alignment to EPC execution strategies. Responsibilities include governance of engineering data deliverables, data quality metrics, and collaboration with Procurement, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls; serving as liaison among Engineering, IT, and software teams; and guiding automation strategy and compliance (e.g., EDP 4.47). The position requires a bachelor’s degree and substantial experience in engineering automation, BIM, data exchange, and cross-functional program leadership, with hands-on familiarity with industry tools and APIs, and a track record of delivering data-driven engineering solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Familiarity with Hexagon (Smart3D, SPID, SPI, SIOP, etc.) and other associated authoring software (e.g., Tekla, Setroute, Inspec)
- Working knowledge of at least one engineering software such as Smart3D, Tekla, SPI, SPEL, SPF, SDx, INSPEC, and 3D model interoperability
- Knowledge of engineering data exchange methodologies (data extraction from authoring tools, data adapters, EIS, data staging, API usage)
- Understanding of Advanced Work Package automation requirements
- Understanding of project workflows from design to construction administration
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to evolving responsibilities
