Job Summary
Perform structural design and analysis for substation foundations, steel structures, and existing modifications using SpidaCALC, PLS-CADD, and FEA software. Provide hands-on drafting support for civil and structural packages, conduct site visits for field verification and inspections, and review deliverables to identify structural risks. Coordinate with Electrical Engineers and project managers to ensure technical alignment across multidisciplinary industrial and utility projects. Follow all safety procedures and building codes while supporting commissioning activities. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and eligibility to pursue a Professional Engineering license in Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency or strong aptitude to learn PLS-CADD, SpidaCALC, and SAFI
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Plant 3D
- Solid understanding of engineering principles related to steel design, reinforced concrete, and load path analysis
- Familiarity with applicable building codes, utility standards, and NESC/ASCE requirements
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to present technical structural data to non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- 0 to 3 years of experience in structural design or a related field
- Eligibility and clear intent to pursue a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Ontario
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for travel to project sites
