Job Summary
Engineering Assistant (Fall/Winter Intern) within FEV’s Engine & Hybrid Powertrain Development group. The role supports test plan creation, data processing and analysis, calibration and maintenance of measurement equipment, and installation/commissioning of new powertrain test setups for conventional and hybrid configurations. You will interact with operations staff, prepare internal and customer presentations, participate in team activities and training, and may support second shift testing. Mentored by an experienced engineer, interns typically have six months to one year in the role, with potential pathways to full-time hire after the internship; resume submission via the FEV career link. The position emphasizes hands-on testing tasks, data-driven project support, and collaboration with project teams and customers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a U.S. bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or related field
- Strong engineering fundamentals: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer
- Basic understanding of internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems
- Skilled in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Basic understanding of MS Excel macro or MATLAB scripting
- Professional communication skills (oral and written)
- Motivated team player to perform in fast paced development environment
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English
- Experience in engine dynamometer and/or vehicle testing (preferred)
- Exposure to engine calibration (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with engine hardware assembly or rebuilding (preferred)
- Knowledge of US emissions/fuel economy regulations (preferred)
- Familiarity with CFR/CCR regulatory language (preferred)
