Job Summary

The Assembly Shop Engineer will support and improve assembly manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality vehicle production. Responsibilities include providing daily engineering support to assembly production operations, monitoring safety, quality, productivity, and downtime, troubleshooting processes and equipment, supporting launches and engineering changes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, cost-reduction). The role requires analyzing production data, developing countermeasures for recurring issues, creating and updating standard work, documenting processes, collaborating with maintenance and controls teams, and participating in preventive/predictive maintenance improvements. Preferred experience includes Toyota Production System principles, TPS, familiarity with AutoCAD/SolidWorks, ergonomics, and experience with automation, conveyors, robotics, and tooling. Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential. A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering (or related field) and approximately 2 years of relevant automotive/high-volume manufacturing experience are advantageous but not strictly required. The position offers relocation assistance (if applicable) and a competitive salary in the stated range. Location is Huntsville, Alabama, USA.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or equivalent experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software
  • Experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation systems
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
