Job Summary
The Engineer, Water Resources Engineering contributes by reviewing routine development and infrastructure applications under the Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and Ontario Regulation 166/06; conducts standard internal designs focusing on water resources engineering; reviews subdivision/site plans and infrastructure projects for hydrologic/hydraulic modelling, stormwater management, grading, floodplain management, and erosion/sediment control; performs technical reviews, provides comments to guide designs, and supports flood risk communication. requires PE designation within Ontario or eligibility, and 4+ years of related experience. The role includes after-hours on-call duties and collaboration with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and public inquiries. The position offers flexible work arrangements with regular office presence at Head Office in Toronto, ON, Canada, and travel ~10%.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering, Water Resources or related discipline
- Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers of Ontario; or out-of-province/international license with requirement to obtain Ontario designation within 12-18 months
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
- 4+ years of experience in water resources engineering including flood hazard modelling, hydrologic modelling, stormwater design and modelling, and erosion/sediment control
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM)
- Ability to conduct floodplain assessments and produce floodplain mapping and mitigation plans
- Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants
- Strong technical design/review capabilities for infrastructure projects
