Job Summary
Engineer role in Valmet’s Wood Handling Engineering team focusing on machine design and drafting for shop engineering and spare parts support. Responsibilities include executing shop-related engineering tasks, creating/modifying production drawings with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, supporting field measurements and site activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and HSE, and collaborating with shop floor, engineering, sales, field service, and spare parts teams. Travel to customer sites (20–30%) for installation support, troubleshooting, and data collection. Strong emphasis on design, drafting, documentation, and process/tool enhancement to improve engineering efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Machine Engineering
- 3–5 years of experience in design, layout, or 3D modeling roles
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for production drawings
- Experience in Pulp & Paper industry preferred, particularly wood handling equipment such as debarking drums, chippers, and feed conveyors
- Experience in machine shop-related engineering is a plus
- Authorized to work in the US
