Job Summary
Senior Technical Support Engineer for diesel engine and auxiliary systems overseeing shipboard maintenance and performance. Provides advanced technical troubleshooting, supports planned and unplanned maintenance activities, and acts as a technical escalation point for diesel engine performance issues, SFOC monitoring, and documentation. Partners to develop and standardize SOPs, defines vendor work scopes and quality criteria, and leads technical projects from feasibility through execution. Focus areas include diagnosis, troubleshooting, reliability, asset lifecycle management, and ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and cost effectiveness across the fleet. Requires collaboration with shipboard teams, vendors, and asset leadership; travel up to 25-50% and an in-office role based in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale with potential remote Fridays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years experience supporting diesel engine maintenance, troubleshooting, or technical operations in a marine, cruise, offshore, shipyard, fleet, or comparable heavy equipment environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct statistical data analysis and interpret technical performance data
- proficient with Microsoft Office software and data analysis tools
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and related auxiliary systems, including operating principles, maintenance requirements, performance indicators, troubleshooting methods, and failure modes
- Ability to diagnose complex technical issues using all data available
- Demonstrated ability to support condition based maintenance opportunities from planning through execution
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with shipboard teams, shoreside stakeholders, vendors, managers, and directors
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work
