Job Summary

Engineer or Principal Software Engineer (Infrastructure) at Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL, with relocation assistance and Secret clearance, performing full software life cycle design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of systems and software infrastructure on a 9/80 schedule with no remote work. Role entails applying software engineering best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, prototyping and architecting complex solutions, automated testing, and delivering operations-focused software while supporting environment automation, configuration activities, and releases. Requires hands-on technical ability, SDLC understanding, and the capacity to own hard problems in a team setting; travel up to 10% is possible.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2+ years of software engineering experience OR Master’s degree in STEM and 0+ years of experience for Principal Engineer Software; or Bachelor’s with 5+ years for Senior/Principal level depending on role
  • Experience with aviation or safety-critical systems
  • Development experience with C/C++ or other OOP languages
  • Experience in Linux and Windows environments
  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and GitLab tool suite
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux administration and Ansible
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration
  • Experience with IP stack and network configuration
  • Experience with RPM packaging from source
  • Experience with Rhapsody and/or Cameo UML Modeling
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Special program access (desirable)
  • Current DoD clearance or ability to obtain
  • Ability to travel ~10%
  • Environmental automation and infrastructure management experience
  • Full lifecycle software development (requirements through maintenance)
