Job Summary
Advise, recommend, and oversee the design, fabrication, and maintenance of complex engineering systems while independently interpreting and executing assignments on unique problems. Develop model concepts and approaches as an individual researcher, then design, perform, and oversee engineering experiments, tests, and data collection to ensure integrity and protocol compliance. Make authoritative decisions impacting extensive projects, write and administer contracts, and review results and conclusions. Provide technical support to graduate students, faculty, and staff on system concepts and design, and may prepare grant proposals or serve as principal investigator. Develop budget recommendations, monitor expenditures, and expand knowledge of new technologies. Serve on University committees as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 7 years work-related experience
- Professional Engineer Licensure in Electrical Engineering in the state of Wyoming or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP
- Must be available to work on campus
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, as sponsorship for any work authorization or work visas is not available for this position now or in the future
Desired Qualifications
- Design and analysis of electrical power distribution systems
- Experience with medium- and low-voltage systems
- Knowledge of lighting, grounding, and emergency power systems
- Familiarity with building automation and energy management systems
- Proficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Revit)
- Experience with electrical modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA)
