Job Summary
Review and evaluate proposed changes to existing electric facilities to ensure compatibility with Eversource protection system standards. Create new Protection and Control system designs, specify materials, and develop relay settings and logic for system reliability projects. Perform coordination studies using fault simulation software and analyze system operations during disturbances to support event analysis. Interface with Planning, Operations, and Field personnel to plan, operate, and maintain the transmission and distribution system. Manage work activities independently and conduct peer checks of group member designs. Actively support storm and emergency restoration assignments. Requires a Bachelor or Master's in Electrical Engineering with three years of related experience. Salary range $100,490-$111,660. Regular full-time position with potential incentives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of related Electrical Engineering experience
- Protection and Control experience
- Experience performing overcurrent and distance coordination studies with ASPEN One-liner modeling software or equivalent
- Experience performing post event analysis using relay and digital fault recorder event records
- Experience with the design and installation of protection and control schemes utilizing IEC61850 protocol
- Ability to work in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs
- Ability to travel to operating districts, and companies within and outside the state
- Ability to travel to electrical substation and generation facilities as necessary for site walk downs and meetings
- Ability to respond to emergency situations to meet customers' needs
- Ability to be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location
Desired Qualifications
- A focus in electric power systems engineering
- Experience performing overcurrent and distance coordination studies with ASPEN One-liner modeling software or equivalent
- Experience performing post event analysis using relay and digital fault recorder event records
- Experience with the design and installation of protection and control schemes utilizing IEC61850 protocol
