Job Summary
Lead Mechanical Engineering projects from concept generation through pilot production and launch, managing risk assessment, prototyping, and design verification testing. Drive VAVE projects independently from scoping to closure while leading cost analysis, product teardowns, and idea generation sessions. Collaborate with global SMEs to deliver projects adhering to Ingersoll Rand's Product Development Process, solving complex technical problems using structured engineering tools. Carry out project activities under minimal supervision, requiring a strong background in structural design, materials science, and Pro E modules. Work Monday through Thursday onsite, with flexible Friday locations, in a team environment focused on sustainable climate solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong competency in handling Mechanical Engineering projects (SOM, Structural, Hand calculation etc.)
- Lead product development activities – Concept generation, Design & Development, Planning, & Testing
- Support and provide input to the Advanced Engineering team – FEA & CFD Modelling - and understand the CAE reports
- Lead the Risk assessment, Prototyping and testing concept designs and initial engineering builds
- Lead Pilot Production, Design reviews, Design verification testing, Product validation, Pre-production & launch activities
- Understand and capture the requirement of the product and work closely with global SME's to deliver the projects adhering to Ingersoll Rand's Product Development Process
- Solve complex technical problems in a structured approach using engineering problem solving tools
- Carry out Project activities under minimal supervision of a Team Lead/Manager
- Drive VAVE projects independently starting from Project Scoping to Closure of the project
- Lead or drive Costing, Product Teardowns, and Idea generation sessions
- Demonstrate ability to identify root cause of a problem and take effective action to solve problems
- Hands on experience in DFMEA, DVP, and test plan development
- Exposure to prototyping and testing
- Hands on experience in designing a structural component (load bearing) for the product
- BE degree/ master's in mechanical / Automobile engineering/Thermal with strong academics
- 3 to 5 Years of Industry Experience
- Proven track record of successfully leading VAVE projects and achieving significant cost reductions
- Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues
- Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires
Desired Qualifications
- Good understanding of component design & Manufacturing of plastics, sheet metal, casting & machining
- Exposure in Pro E Modules – Part, Sheet metal, Assembly (Top down and bottom up) and Drawing
- Basic knowledge in materials sciences and electrical systems
- Demonstrates innovation & initiative approach at work

- A strong team player capable of working with others
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and results in a clear and concise manner
- Project Management – Less complex projects- Starting from Project initiation to Closure
- SAVE/INVEST – VAVE certification preferable
